Joey Fatone is a favorite to return to "Dancing." (ABC)

Hardcore fans of "Dancing With the Stars" can be excited about seeing one of their old favorites again...at least for one night. ABC has a bit of a contest going on the show's official site to determine who will be able to return to the ballroom later this season to give a very special performance.

Already America has chosen the type of dance--the bullfighter-esque paso doble--and the music ("Eye of the Tiger.") Now, the next two weeks will determine which star is to dance again.

The nine candidates to return to "Dancing" are:

Drew Lachey: He won the second season of "Dancing With the Stars," and the fact that he makes periodic appearances on the program continues to give him familiarity.

Gilles Marini: Considering the "Sex and the City" actor was only on earlier this spring, he may have a shot. There's also a good many people out there who thought he deserved to win over Shawn Johnson.

Helio Castroneves: Back when he won "Dancing" with Julianne Hough, Helio was super-popular and on top of the world; however, now that Julianne's off the show and he had a high-profile case of tax evasion (he was eventually acquitted), the odds aren't too high.

Joey Fatone: Who wouldn't want to see Joey back with Kym Johnson? The guy is so much fun that I could easily see him getting enough votes to return. (Of course, we wouldn't know who Joey would dance with until later in the voting process.)

Kelly Monaco: She won the very first season of the show, but this soap star hasn't done enough since to be in the forefront of viewers' minds.

Kristi Yamaguchi: We're getting near the Winter Olympics, so fans of ice skating may plug in their votes for Kristi. She's probably my darkhorse pick to return to the ballroom.

Mel B.: The forcer Spice Girl has been campaigning for votes lately, but it's a toss-up if that will be enough to get her to return.

Sabrina Bryan: She may be the best dancer to not even come close to winning the show, but Sabrina has no chance. Her most famous act since "Dancing" was breaking up with her former partner Mark Ballas.

Shawn Johnson: It was a surprise to many that Shawn won last season, and her fans might still be around to give her a few votes. However, I see it most likely that she will lose some votes to fellow Olympian Kristi and therefore have no shot.
