Blizzcon 2008 came to a close last night, and it certainly didn't go quietly. The closing ceremony featured the comedy of Patton Oswalt along with Mike Morhaims own band; Level 80 Elite Tauren Chieftain. Rounding up the night was a wonderful performance by Video Games Live, a symphony incorporating video montages, while playing scores from Blizzard games.
Saturday was the big day for World of Warcraft panels. The lead developers gathered in the main hall and unleashed some videos of brand new arenas, including the Dalaran sewers and the arena in Orgrimmar. This was followed with questions from the WoW fans.
The next panel was the one all WoW fans wanted to see. In fact I'm pretty sure there were a couple drooling when the developers gave them sweeping looks at two of the new dungeons in Wrath of the Lich king, including the Halls of Lightning which has a style representative of ancient Greek gods.
The development team explained some of the changes to dungeon drops and the addition of 10 and 25 man raids in Northrend. That being said, I have to say the most exciting information (personally) is that players will no longer dismount when they ride trough bodies of water, starting with the release of Wrath of the Lich king.
Closing up shop on Blizzcon, let me just say that Blizzard fans are in for a real treat for the next couple of years. As gamers all know Blizzard has a reputation of pushing release dates back, fortunately they have a reputation for making the best games in the universe. The fraction of Diablo III, and Starcraft II looked absolutely gorgeous, and I will not be surprised if by next holiday season, we get to play these bad boys in their entirety.
