Mammoth Health Care Reform Bill

On Saturday evening, the House of Representatives narrowly passed HR 3962 with a vote of 220-215, a new version of the Health Care Reform Bill that is mammoth in size.  While there are many aspects of this bill that you may or may not agree with, there is one section in particular of which all homeschoolers, and all parents who nurture their children, need to be aware.

This recently passed Bill that now goes to the Senate for a vote, makes provisions for government to come into our homes and "teach" us how to raise our children.  This is, of course, under a friendly guise of helping those in need by providing instruction on how to care for newborns and children in their "Home Visitation" section of the Bill.

So, why should a homeschooling family in St. Louis be concerned?  Because, according to the Homeschool Legal Defense Association, this opens the door to government's hand in controlling how we raise our children.  On a recent Huckabee show, Michael Farris, from HSLDA, explained that it creates the foundation of the government being able to tell us not only how to educate our children, but would even make it a legal offense to tell your child that Jesus is the only way to heaven, for instance because it is not teaching tolerance.  Or, mandate what is appropriate discipline for each and every child.  And, there's more.  It opens up the door for the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the child (UN CRC) to be ratified causing international law to invade American-made-law by dictating how to raise our children based on the UN guidelines.

If you homeschool your children.  Or, if you are a parent who wants to raise your child the way you see fit, make sure your Senators hear from you that you are opposed to HR 3962.  While you're on the phone, you might want to make your voice be heard about passing the Parental Rights Amendment which would stop the UN CRC from controlling our American rights.
