Got some extra Halloween candy lying around that's somehow escaped being eaten?  Why not put it to educational use by teaching arithmetic.  Use M&Ms, for instance, as counters in a variety of math skills.  The ideas are countless, and the real fun comes when you are done - You get to eat your lesson.

Chocolate Fractions, Part One:  Is My Child Ready for This?  is now offered as a free downloadable book from Currclick.com.  It starts off with printable activities to determine if your child is ready for fractions.  If your child shows promise, feel free to move on by using chocolate candy bars.  This book describes how.  From there, you can move onto more downloadable e-books from Teacher Book Bag to help your child grow in their fraction skills.  There are ten sections priced at .50 each.  You might even want to add an entire dinner to your arithmetic lesson and consider their series on pizza fractions, Papa Paulo's Pizzeria priced at $4.99, as well.
