As many homeschoolers already know, Christopher Klicka - An attorney for Home School Legal Defense Association (HSLDA), died last week on October 12 at the age of 48.  A memorial service has been scheduled for October 31, 2009 at 10:00 a.m. in Virginia.  If you are unable to make the trip, please leave a memorial message on the HSLDA Facebook page or email your memoriam.

Following is Part 3 of a video tribute to Christopher Klicka that was filmed in September, including his own words on anticipating heaven, while he was still living:

Christopher died at the age of 48 of complications from Multiple Sclerosis (MS).  MS is a disease that attacks the central nervous system.  It affects everyone differently, but it typically strikes its victims in their prime between the ages of 20-40.  Most people with MS go on to live a normal life expectancy.  However, according to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society website, about 5% die an early death due to the results MS has on their bodies, including infectious complications.  MS is a debilitating disease that brings on life-long suffering - Some days are better than others, and many can live many years with good days and bad days.  It is usually particularly more devestating when it strikes a male.

Multiple Sclerosis reacts differently in every person, but here are some typical early warning signs of MS:

  • fatigue
  • heat sensitivity
  • muscle spasms
  • dizziness
  • tingling
  • numbness
  • loss of balance
  • weakness in one or more limbs
  • blurred or double vision
  • slurred speach or swallowing difficulties
  • sudden onset of paralysis
  • lack of coordination
  • cognitive difficulties

You can find out more at the St. Louis' Gateway Chapter of National Multiple Sclerosis Society.
