Now whose up the creek without a paddle? -- That would be Mr. Tom Kapinos. Kapinos was the executive producer on the WB (now the CW) show, Dawson's Creek from 2001-2003.

If you remember, Dawson's Creek hired a bunch of relatively unknown actors: Katie Holmes, James Van Der Beek, Michele Williams, and Joshua Jackson. All of them remained on the show in it's entirety. Kapinos never publicly spoke in a negative light about the show or the actors until now.

Kapino's recently was talking about his new show, Californication, when he mentioned the popular 90's show, "The idea came out of my own misery of working on Dawson's Creek. I came out here to write screenplays, and I ended up on Dawson's Creek, which was very lucrative and fun, but it was not what I wanted to do," he said.

Apparently, it wasn't just the show that he was upset with. He had an issue with the four main cast members. Kapino's explained, "When the panel moderator asked, "What was it specifically that made it such a challenge?" Tom dropped this bomb: "It was the four monstrous actors at the core of it."

Thus, beginning the controversy. The media has picked up this story and it's slowly gaining wind on the Internet. Since Dawson's Creek ended, the main cast has been in the public eye in one way or another.

So where are the stars now?

Joshua Jackson is now on a new television show, Fringe. The show had a successful first season and FOX has picked it up for Season 2. Jackson is currently dating Diane Krueger and is expected to appear at the San Diego Comic Con this year.

Katie Holmes was pretty unknown until Dawson's came around. Since then she made headlines with her "newsworthy" relationship with Tom Cruise. There was the age difference, the Oprah couch incident, and then silent birth rumors that floated around. Holmes recently did a play in New York City and was seen in the audience at American Idol Season 8.

James Van Der Beek stayed under the radar these past few years since Dawson's Creek ended. However, he has made numerous appearances on other major television shows such as CSI and One Tree Hill. Rumor is that Van Der Beek will be in a new show come this September. It was also announced that Van Der Beek is getting divorced.

Michelle Williams was nominated for an Oscar for her wonderful performance in Brokeback Mountain. She was in headlines due to the unfortunate death of her ex, Heath Ledger. She is currently filming a new movie with Ryan Gosling and has since found another man.

Guess Kapinos didn't mind both Kerr Smith and Meredith Monroe... unless he forgot they were on the show too?

So what do you think of Kapinos? Should he have said those things?
