When people decide to live simply, they often have very specific goals in mind. For one family near Alma, Michigan, the change was dramatic. Their vision of simple living became crystal clear when they realized they were chasing after all the wrong things and missing out on the things that mattered most.
On their blog, True North, they write of the decision:
We have said goodbye to the constant bombardment of social and economic pressures that have so long maintained a stranglehold on pure happiness. No more shall we embrace debt as a way to reward ourselves for hard work. No more will the unrealistic and unattainable image of the 'Jones' that the media and Hollywood relentlessly spit out at us, be sought. No, from this day forward, our perspective has, and must, change.
The Wojtowicz family was recently featured in a USA Today article highlighting the changes families are making, many of which involve reviving old skills such as canning, gardening and sewing.
