The helicopter blades swirl above as each lightning strike illuminates the sky. You look to your left and see your captain, grizzled beard and all, smoking his cigar. In the looming distance, the shape of a cargo ship comes out through the fog from the torrential downpour. As the helicopter circles around the boat, your heart starts to race. You get ready to lock and load as your captain yells “get ready!” The helicopter gets into position above the ship as it releases its ropes. You take a deep breath and zip down the line catching the guards by surprise. Before they even have a chance to grab a weapon, you pull the trigger and in an instant of frenetic muzzle flashes, the smoke clears and all that’s left are bullet-riddled bodies, shell casings and bits of shattered glass. And that’s only the beginning of the first mission.
After I was finished with this mission, the title screen faded in, revealing ‘Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare’, while the epic orchestra was blaring. I just sat in shock. That had to be one of most memorable moments I’ve had playing a game in a while, and every time I play it, it’s just as adrenaline pumping as the first time. It’s a testament to this great game.
A sequel was inevitable and just a couple of weeks ago, it was revealed as Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2. As far as teaser trailers go this one lasted for 24 seconds, but a lot was packed into it. The action sequences contain snow mobile gunfights (straight from my childhood experiences with my G.I. Joe figurines), underwater sequences, and the return of the AC-130 gunship.

Also detailed, not in the trailer, is an all-new mode called Special Forces that won’t be tied to the single player narrative, but can be played co-operatively. This was one feature that I felt was missing in Call of Duty 4, and I’m ecstatic that it’s going to be a part of Modern Warfare 2.
At the end of the trailer, the next layer will be unveiled May 24th during the Eastern Conference Finals. So everyone stay tuned and be prepared again to enter the firefight that is Call of Duty.
