Looks like Guild Wars fans will have to wait another year to play Guild Wars 2. The hopes of a 2010 release have been dashed and a 2011 release is looking more than likely. Jaeho Lee, the CEO of NCsoft West said that the game will enter a testing phase in 2010 and will fully launch the following year. Here’s what was said according to Gamespot:
"I believe there will be a certain public event in the year 2010, so at this point it could be at least a closed beta test for [Guild Wars 2 and Korea-oriented martial-arms MMOG Blade & Soul]," he said. "The commercialization will be expected at this point probably sometime in the year 2011."
As a Guild Wars fan, I started to not hold my breath a while ago, but having to wait another year is a bit disappointing and it’s not even 2010 yet. But hopefully, the game will be fully realized and one can only hope the work put into it will be worth it in the end.
