Yup, weather wise San Francisco is as safe as...New York, according to a random article entitled Death map USA: Natural disaster hotspots revealed.
I find it ironic that so many older individuals migrate from the Midwest to warmer climates (south Florida overwhelmingly comes to mind) when it is so hazardous to their health. Maybe the gated communities give a false sense of security, or maybe it's wearing sweater vests on the golf course all day that cause rampant dehydration and overheating.
The article stresses that one should beware extreme temperatures over hurricanes, earthquakes and wildfires; not worrying about the latter two really do make San Francisco seem safe!
And to think when I told my friend who works on a windfarm in Texas that his life may be in danger and tried to encourage him to move back to Detroit, he laughed.
