After searching most of the metro Atlanta area for a decent gluten-free ice cream cone, I finally gave up and starting searching online. Very quickly I found out the Gluten-Free Mall had my favorite brand – Barkat Waffle Gluten-Free Ice Cream Cones. They also had bread and crackers from the same line. The Barkat waffle cones are as good as any cone regardless of ingredients. The only complaint is that they are very tiny, though this could be a positive since you really can’t overeat ice cream with these cones.

The Barkat Gluten-Free Baguette works great when sliced (in small rounds) and used for bruschetta and also makes a nice garlic bread. Since it is shelf stable it does not require special storage before opening. In other words, no freezer space needed for this bread – a definite plus!

The Barkat Matzo Crackers are quite similar to the Ener-G plain crackers but they have a better shape. They are large round sturdy crackers that hold up well with any topping.  They will not crumble if you try and spread something like thick Brie cheese on them. Gluten-free crackers with this characteristic are far and few between.

Also available at the Gluten-Free Mall is the exceptional Dr. Schar Gluten-Free Tagliatelle Pasta. This company is in Italy and takes pasta quality very seriously. They also make very tasty buttery gluten-free crackers. We use this pasta for Fettuccine Alfredo because we don’t like the other available options. The wide noodles hold the sauce well and that’s the way we like it.

Because we have so many options in the stores here, we rarely have to order food online. But sometimes you just want an ice cream cone that does not taste like the box is came in. And those we do not have even - in the overly gluten-free friendly ATL. Or at least I could not locate them here anywhere.
