Nothing says rum like a cherry limeade! No, not the ones you get at the drive-ins, or at the soda fountain, but the cherry limeade packed full of citrus flavored rum, sour, a little clear soda, and hint of grenadine. Yes, the adult kind.

I first had a cherry limeade at Stanford and Son’s back when it was still in Westport. I was looking for something that wouldn’t get me too tipsy, but would still meet the two drink minimum required of everyone who saw a show. I didn’t know what to expect, but from the first taste I was hooked. Luckily for me, the ingredients were listed on the menu so I put my head together with my friendly local bartender and we perfected the following recipe. Mix one up. You will not be sorry.

Ingredients:
  • 1 shot of Bacardi Limon
  • 3 ounces sour mix
  • 3 ounces Sprite
  • A splash of grenadine
  • Lime wedges to garnish

Directions:
To pour the drink, put ice into a tall glass.   Add the rum first, then the sour, then the Sprite, and finally the grenadine. You shouldn’t need to stir if you pour in that order. Garnish with a lime wedge and drink up!

Oh, and if you like really stiff drinks, you can add up to 4 shots of Bacardi Limon without affecting the flavor!
