"Sex and the City" star Cynthia Nixon announced her engagement to her partner Christine Marinoni on Sunday at a rally for same-sex marriage held at 6th Ave and 44th Street in New York City.
Nixon and Marinoni hooked up in 2003, after Nixon divorced her husband Danny Mozes, with whom she has two children.
The rally which was hosted by Broadway Impact, and was a rally in support of love, peace, and marriage equality for all people.
The event featured a performance by the cast of Hair along with performances and appearances by Audra McDonald, Cheyenne Jackson, Cynthia Nixon, Kristin Davis, State Senator Tom Duane, and State Assemblyman Daniel O'Donnell, there was even a special surprise appearence by New York Governor David Paterson.
This was a very important event to try and make a call for the New York state Senate to approve the same-sex marriage bill that is awaiting a vote. If approved, Gov. Paterson has said he would sign the bill into law, making New York the 6th state to acheive marriage equality.
