My juicer fell into my hands one afternoon as I was helping my mother clean out her garage.  My grandmother, always the health food hipster, purchased the Champion Juicer back in the 90’s when juicing became enormously trendy.  This industrial strength juicer didn’t last long on her countertop.  However, how ecstatic was I to uncover this gem that only had to wait a decade to receive the love and frequent use it deserves!

You may not be so lucky as to find a great juicer in a relative’s garage.  So, I have done a bit of research and compiled a list of links to help you find the juicer that best meets your needs and budget.

Kris Carr recommends the Breville Ikon Multi Speed Juicer which you can find at a discount on Amazon.com.  Here is a practical review for the Breville's  Juice Fountain.

Raw food chef, Dan Hoyt, recommends the Tristar JLPJB Jack LaLanne Power Juicer, also available on Amazon.com.

Carol Alt profiles two juicers in her book, Eating in the Raw.  Among them are the Samson Ultra Twin Gear (Kempo) Juicer and the Green Power Gold Juice Extractor.

Follow this discussion on crazysexylife.com about the Breville Compact Juicer, which seems to be a great option for those on the go.

Target offers a host of juicers for those on a budget.

Consumersearch.com has ranked different juicers based on their varying functions.  This site also lists competitive prices for comparison shoppers.

As for my Champion, it's easy to assemble and relatively easy to clean.  The only downfall is its size.  This monster of a juicer takes up a big chunk of counter space and is heavy, making it inconvenient to store if you plan on using it on a daily basis.

Things to keep in mind when shopping for a juicer:
~An easy-to-clean juicer is a well-used juicer.
~When it comes to juicers, you get what you pay for.  A bigger financial investment may be the difference between a life-long love for juicing and throwing the thing at your kitchen wall after one week of fresh juice experiments.
~Juicing may not be for you.  Try green smoothies and alternative juicing techniques before investing in an expensive piece of kitchen equipment.

Question of the Day:  What kind of juicer do you use or plan to purchase?  Feel free to post a review.  Your advice will help others looking to take the plunge.
