How much longer will Tay and Sheed be laughing together?

With the NBA trade deadline just around the corner, rumors involving the Pistons have been gaining steam.

Are there any fans out there that wouldn't like to see Amare Stoudemire in a Pistons uniform? How about Chris Bosh? Tyson Chandler? The list is endless.

While it's unlikely that any of these players will end up in Motown, it's still fun to browse over the possibility.

Here are some of the rumored deals involving the Bad Boys:

Steal Bosh from the Raptors

I've touched on the Bosh rumors in the past, and it remains the most attractive option for the Pistons. Joe Dumars gushed over Bosh's game in the past. Bosh's expected to be the Pistons primary target in the summer of 2010 and probably would have been drafted by Dumars if Darko Milicic weren't a part of the 2003 draft. If you're the Pistons, why not grab a guy now who you are targeting to sign in the future?

But what would the Raptors want in return?

If they want an expiring contract, Rasheed Wallace is a perfect match. Sheed's and Bosh's deals both hover around the $14 million mark. Toronto may want some help in the box office to go along with an expiring contract. In that case, they could pursue Allen Iverson. AI's and Bosh's salaries don't match so a player like Jason Kapano would have to be thrown into the mix.

Swap with Phoenix for Amare

ESPN's Chad Ford has already broken down this trade. He has Sheed and Amir Johnson being shipped from Detroit to Phoenix in exchange for Stoudemire.

The salaries match, and it seems like a no-brainer from the Pistons standpoint. But why would Phoenix pull the trigger? Blame the economy.

The Suns are looking to cut payroll. A rival general manager has said that Suns' GM Steve Kerr has been ordered to shed $40 million before the trade deadline. The only way to do that is by acquiring expiring contracts.

Three-way deal with Toronto and Phoenix

Former Suns GM and current Raptors president Bryan Colangelo is said to be yearning for a reunion with Stoudemire. Unfortunately for Colangelo, the Suns don't want to deal with him.

Enter the Pistons.

The Pistons would step in as facilitator to help Toronto land their man. In the rumored deal, Detroit would send Tayshaun Prince to Phoenix for Stoudemire, who would then be shipped to Toronto for Bosh.

This deal goes against the thought that the Suns are trying to shed payroll. Prince is on the books for through the 2010-11 season. If the Suns did do a deal like this, expect more deals coming out of the desert.

Reunite old friends

Prince and Tyson Chandler played high school ball together, and according to the rumor mill, they could be reunited in the pros.

The Hornets are another team who have salary cap constraints next season and are expected to shed some money before the deadline. Chandler is on the books for around $11 million this year and next and is the most likely player to get shipped out of town.

The one problem the Hornets have is that they are contenders in the West Conference and will need more than a bum with an expiring contract, which is why Wallace is a fit once again.

The Pistons would be able to send Sheed to the Hornets in a 1-for-1 deal involving Chandler. The move would make the Pistons a better defensive team, but the current void of an inside scoring presence would only be amplified with the arrival of Chandler, who averages a pedestrian 8.8 points per game.
