Walter Herrmann was on fire from beyond the arc Friday night.
The second-year Piston drilled 5-of-6 three-pointers, scoring 16 points as he sparked the Pistons to a 107-97 victory over the visiting Milwaukee Bucks.
Herrmann proved to be the key to victory as he scored 13 of the Pistons 25 points in the fourth quarter.
After hitting his first of four fourth quarter bombs, it became apparent that Allen Iverson was looking for the Argentinean every time down the floor. Iverson would draw defenders in with dribble penetration, before finding Herrmann planted in the corner. Herrmann made good on Iverson’s dimes, going 4-for-5 from three-point land in the final period.
Iverson was impressed by Herrmann’s sweet stroke, "Man, he shot the ball so well. He made it so much easier for everybody else. I remember penetrating a lot, guys were just collapsing, and kicked it out to them in rhythm he was able to knock shots down. He played a helluva game."
Herrmann playing a “helluva game” is something the Palace faithful are starting to relish witnessing. With each chuck from the golden-haired small forward, the Palace would fill with the noise of anticipation, a rising gasp from 20,000 spectators, then erupt into cheers as the shot hits nothing but net.
The support Herrmann received during his fourth quarter rally proves that Pistons fans are salivating for more action from the Fabio clone. Maybe the Pistons should abide to their fans’ wishes – In the five games when Herrmann has played more than 15 minutes, the Pistons are 4-1, and Herrmann has gone 12-for-19 from downtown.
