Herrmann hospitalized
The Pistons’ own Norse deity was hospitalized following Thursday’s 98-80 loss to the Celtics after suffering a minor concussion late in the fourth quarter.
He sustained the injury after taking an elbow to the jaw. Now we know the reason the Celtics have had the Pistons’ number the past season and a half – the shape-shifting Loki lurks somewhere on their roster.
Herrmann was released from the hospital Friday morning and is considered day-to-day. If Odin wills it, Herrmann shouldn’t miss too much time.
Rip rips team’s chemistry
In a Detroit News article, Rip claimed that the Pistons are “not trusting each other on the floor”.
Allen Iverson added to Rip’s statement, "You need to have that trust, night in and night out. You have to be able to trust that if you get beat, somebody else is going to be there. You have to be able to trust your defensive assignments. If you are supposed to let a man go a certain way, somebody else is supposed to pick him up."
The growing pains will continue as Rip and the rest of the Pistons try to adapt to playing off of Iverson. Luckily, the Pistons have a light schedule with only four games through the end of November, so there should be plenty of practice time to create some sort of cohesiveness.
MyDyess still undecided
Antonio McDyess is still trying to figure out which team he will suit up for the remainder of the season. Numerous teams have been rumored to be after the 13-year veteran, including the Larry Brown coached Charlotte Bobcats and the Cleveland Cavaliers.
The earliest that McDyess could return to the Pistons is Dec. 7, so the longer he remains on the market, the more likely it is he will make a return to the Palace.
The Pistons haven’t had a consistent scoring option in the paint or off the bench since McDyess was traded. If they aren’t able to re-sign Dice, the Pistons will have to look other directions to fill the void.
