This past June, Oregon Dog Rescue (ODR) received dogs from a Washington puppy mill seizure that were at the Oregon Humane Society. As reported in a story I posted following this seizure, Oregon Dog Rescue had taken in the first two of about 10 -12 of the American Eskimo dogs rescued. The dogs needed extensive rehabilitation.
This story has a happy ending. ODR sent an update (that all dog lovers should read) of a success story about these American Eskimo Dogs living the second chapter of their lives. The proud dog parents of Kaya and Ramzi (adopted from ODR) have a Web site telling their story. The story is actually told from both the dogs’ point of view and discusses the issues they faced as they joined their new family.
In the spirit of Adopt-a-Dog month, it seemed appropriate to post a quick update that the dogs from the Kennewick, WA shelter now have a lot to live for and those that adopt dogs should be recognized for their patience and big hearts. It’s not easy… Read more about Kaya and Ramzi and remember that shelters and rescue groups are the first place everyone should go when considering adopting a pet.
