Though our city of Dallas is the central point of the music industry, we just don’t hear enough about our local talent that has gone nationwide. We are going to begin this saga with exposing some of the industry’s best kept secret. Our local underground sounds.
I have had the pleasure of spending the last few years with a mass variety of our local talent that has chosen to shine, yet play the background. One of many that really caught my attention is R.C.Williamswww.myspace.com/rceezy1. R.C. was born and raised in Dallas, Tx. He comes from a strong line of family which are singers and musicians. He was introduced into our music world in a major way. While attending the Arts Magnet, he committed himself to his preference of Jazz and Synths. R.C’s advancement began by playing the keys and organ for the Grammy- Award winning gospel group, God’s Property. He also had the pleasure of dipping into the ocean of artistry with other artists such as Snoop Dogg, Jill Scott, Mos Def, Common, Talib Kweli, Kirk Franklin, Musiq Soulchild, Bilah, N’Dambi, Floetry, The Game, Queen Latifah, The Roots, Soulive, Pharell, Dave Chapell, Jaguar Wright, Stokley of mint Condition, Dwele, Raheem, Davaughn, and Carl Thomas just to name a few. Among his many accomplishments, he has received 3 Grammy Nominations for production and writing for Erykah Badu’s, World Wide Underground. He is also the musical director for the world renowned artist, Erykah Badu.

At the present time, he is hosting the Wednesday Night Jam Session at The Prophet Bar. R.C along with the Gritz Band and the Cannabinoids has been a vital part of bridging the gaps between our artists in all genres. I have had the personal pleasure performing with the Gritz Band and that was an experience that I will never forget. It has been said by many that the energy and vibe that he brings is unlike many. He truly a legend in his own time.
