The Monterey Bay Aquarium has released an updated version of its Seafood Watch recommendations on which fish to eat, and those to avoid. Noting that your choices matter, the goal is promote sustainable fishing practices and educate consumers about the fish that they eat.
Launched ten years ago, the guide lists “best choices,” “good alternatives” and “avoid.” The list may surprise you. The new guide also includes The Super Green List which highlights choices that are low in environmental contaminants and are good sources of long-chain omega-3 fatty acids. Recommendations are updated every six months. A separate sushi guide is available as well.
You can search for a particular fish, download a pocket guide, or use a mobile guide for reference when dining out.
