Google should buy Twitter... Rob Garner

Rob Garner, a social media expert, lays out some compelling reasons why Google should buy Twitter. He boils his argument down to two cogent points.

1. Google does search best.

Both Google's Search Options and Twitter have proven to be indispensable tools for finding new and useful information, and together they would create a layer to the search experience not possessed by any one engine.

2. Google kills spam best.

In the game of real-time search, controlling spam and assessing authority and trust becomes more important.  Google has excelled in getting spam out of the results to increase relevance, and this is where they would be a great partner with Twitter in terms of keeping their real-time results clean.

Garner makes these conclusions based on the fact that he maintains real time search is closer than it appears.

If Google is to maintain it's leadership in search and provide quality search results, then Google needs to index the internet every second of every day.

Garner maintains that Google Search combined with Twitter data would be the best of both worlds. Google has the indexing power and Twitter has the audience and data.
