A burst of snow fell early this morning, which was actually forecasted here a few days ago. The surprise was what actually stuck. Reports ranged from a slushy coating to about 2 inches in Owings Mills. The added weight on the leaf loaded trees brought down large branches around Garrison Forest Rd. This covering of snow did stick on some roads, even along I-83 near Mt. Carmel Rd in Parkton. The snow barely made it to northern Cockeysville, and up through Shrewsberry, PA. Ironically, farther norther in York, PA it was mostly rain.
The final burst from this storm pattern pushed into parts of Carroll and Baltimore County with an accumulation of snow. The heavy precipitation helped to drag down cooler air from aloft and allow for the complete turn over and sticking. Since it fell overnight, the ground was allowed to cool enough for some minor accumulation. Unfortunately, the solar energy in October... even on a cloudy morning was no match for the snow, and most melted away within an hour or two. If you have a snow report, please share in the comments..
