Last week, Nip/Tuck filmed their 100th episode. Usually, this is a milestone that demands parties and ads in all of the trades, but not this time because their 100th episode was also their last.

Julian McMahon ruled the FX Network as Christian Troy , the over-the-top plastic surgeon with a passion for fancy cars, designer suits and beautiful women. Dylan Walsh played Dr. Sean McNamara, Troy's friend and partner. Serious and skilled, Sean is the one with the crisis of conscience when making pretty people prettier takes precedent over helping those with real deformities.

This was not your average doctor show, oh no. Nip/Tuck was sexy, often times violent and not for the squeamish.

But as much as the cast and crew hated to leave on that last day, some felt the day should have come sooner. Cast member John Hensely had this to say to the LA Times:

"I feel we've reached a creative impasse with regards to what we can do with this story. I feel like it was, quite frankly, told a long time ago. I say that trying to be right-sized about this because I am very grateful for this opportunity. I just feel that we were a show that was very good and innovative at one point and we've gone the way of so many shows before us. Our moment has passed."

The situation gets even stranger when you realize that the final episodes of Nip/Tuck won't air on FX until the year 2011.  That makes a successful Save Our Show Campaign a near impossibility at this point in time. Perhaps it would be better to wait until a few months before the final episodes air, then campaign for a reunion movie. That will give the cast and crew time enough to miss working on this groundbreaking series.

Nip/Tuck - Season 5, Part 1 is available on DVD from Amazon.com.
