WHAT: Lollapalooza
WHEN: August 7 - 9
WHERE: Grant Park | Chicago, IL
WHAT YOU'RE IN FOR: The granddaddy of all US music festivals, Lolla has been going strong since 1991, so expect a well-executed show with top-notch talent.
EVERYONE'S TALKING ABOUT...:Depeche Mode, Tool, The Killers, Jane's Addiction, Beastie Boys, Kings of Leon, Snoop Dogg, Lou Reed.
...BUT DON'T FORGET: Animal Collective, Care Bears On Fire, Miike Snow, Dan Deacon, Glasvegas, Fleet Foxes, No Age.
HOW MUCH: Three-day passes are still on sale for $205, as are individual day tickets for $80 apiece. If you're feeling VIP, you can drop down $850 for passes that get you everything from mini spa treatments and elevated seating to stocked bars, lunch and dinner buffets, and air-conditioned restrooms. What it won't get you is a cabana to call your own. Which is fine, because you can always click here to find out how to get one.
SPECIAL FEATURES: Obviously the main stage is where all the action goes down, but the party is going to be hoppin' at Perry's, the requisite dance tent where face-melters like MSTRKRFT, Boys Noize, Crookers, Bassnectar, the Glitch Mob, Deadmau5, A-Trak, Diplo and more will be throwing down.
THE FINAL WORD: There really is no reason to miss this show if you're in the area, and if you've got the bones to travel, you'd be remiss not to try and attend. Got kids? Kidapalooza offers some great attractions for the young'ins as well, so even parents have no excuse. Like Coachella on the west coast, Lolla is the concert even of the summer for people out east. Don't miss it.
