Tonight I'm excited to be hosting the first ever label showcase for up and coming SF imprint Solid Bump Records at Vessel's electronic weekly "Infatuation."
Founded in 2008 by SF/Denver duo White Girl Lust, Solid Bump is all about resurrecting the soul of classic dance music with a a modern spin: injecting the dirty disco-house sound of late 90's Chicago & France with contemporary styles of electro, techno, indie-rock and synth-pop.
They've been garnering accialm, gathering mometum and getting busy since last year’s “West Coast Bump” EP and XLR8R Magazine Podcast, and their darkly diverse new "Back & Forth" EP is getting a lot of buzz.
Tonight features a special live performance with both halves of White Girl Lust in the house; Eric doing live PA, Clay flying in from Denver to play bass and first lady of Solid Bump Alona on vocals.
Rounding out the line-up is DJ MyKill, a new addition to the Solid Bump roster spinning a set of his signature electro fused disco-house, and special guest Qzen of the 40 Thieves lending her vocal talents to the live set.
Entrance is free before 11:30 if you RSVP on Facebook or email me (joebrilliant at gmail dot com) by 6PM. There will also be Solid Bump CD Samplers to the first 50 guests and drinks specials all night.
Tonight promisises to truly be a landmark night for a label poised to be the heir-apparent in the proud tradtion of internationally recognized SF imprints like Om and Dirty Bird.
If you can make it out on a school night, come get a glimplse of the newest sound from the SFC.
