Because of space constraints I had to leave off the last question from my interview with Anne Rice in the last article. Anne has a new book coming out this fall and she’s giving us a little taste of her new direction. The new series is titled “Songs of the Seraphim” and the first installment of the series is “Angel Time.” Anne doesn’t write vampire novels anymore and she hasn’t for some time now, however her new series promises to carry the same entertainment value if not more. I’m looking forward to “Angel Time” this fall and highly recommend book, Anne Rice is a great writer, and although the content may have changed, the heart of the author remains the same; and that’s what makes her a great writer.

Q: Can you give us a little insight into your new book, “Angel Time,” and new book series, “Songs of the Seraphim”, and the new direction that your new stories are going?

"My book, Angel Time, which comes out in the Fall has to do with a man, Toby O'Dare, who has been an assassin for ten years, and is visited by an angel, at his own bitter invitation, and the angel suggests to Toby that he repent, ask God's forgiveness, and then that he go to work for the angels. Toby accepts all of this, and is sent into the thirteenth century to solve a difficult problem for a Jewish couple in Norwich in England who face severe persecution for a crime they did not commit. Toby will go on in the series Songs of the Seraphim to have many adventures as he works for the angels. Book Two is already written and I am working on Book Three.
I find it very exciting to return to imaginative storytelling of the kind I did in my earlier books, exploring various periods in history, only this time with a Christian hero who is dedicated to the Lord.
I feel it is possible to make this "Christian thriller" as exciting as any of my vampire novels, but with a different spiritual focus altogether. I will continue to write my Christ the Lord novels and continue with Songs of the Seraphim, developing the idea of angels working on earth and getting humans to work for them on earth as "children of the angels." I find this new work extremely exciting.
I feel I exhausted what I had to say with the vampire metaphor. After my conversion and return to faith, I did not have any more vampire stories to write."

I have to thank Anne Rice again for the insight, as an avid reader of her novels, I feel her new series is going to be a great success; of course how could we expect anything else. As far as recommending anything from the Rice library, I would have to say anything, but today I’m going to recommend The Witching Hour and Blood and Gold, both are great books.

The DVD recommendation for today is Dracula’s Daughter, as mentioned in yesterday’s portion of the interview; it is Anne rice’s favorite vampire film. Its good movie to watch after the sun goes down and the kids are in bed for night, one of my favorites as well. Enjoy.
