I’ve been thinking a lot about that question lately. My current project is a heritage album spanning the generations and complementing my genealogy research. It will be left to the nephews as a connection to their family’s history.

For me, my grandparents were the rock of our family. Their farm was the gathering place for family functions, and the place most prominent in my memory. My heritage album, naturally, starts with stories of the farm and memories of the special occasions spent there. It gives me a lot of pleasure to relive those experiences.

Over the years, I’ve collected a few books to help with the genealogy and memory-keeping process. Over the next several weeks, I’ll be reviewing those books and sharing some insights with you. I’ve added a link list (Writing your story) to sources for these books, if at any time you want to get a copy of one or more.

Watch for the next in this series, where I'll review Photographing Your Heritage.
