Completing a scrapbooking can be a daunting project. Considering how to organize the photos and layouts, especially when using a non-expandable book, can be quite a challenge.
One technique for arranging everything before completing pages is called "power layouts". To complete the planning for an album, you'll need an empty table and plenty of blank sheets the same size as your scrapbook pages. Lay out a blank sheet of paper to represent the cover page then two sheets side-by-side for each two-page spread. Then, simply arrange your photos on the pages along with any memorabilia, stickers, or embellishments you intend to use on the pages. When the items are all arranged on the sheets, pile the sheets with the last page to be completed on the table first and the cover page on the top. When it's time to scrapbook, simply take the first sheet of photos and create your first page and continue on until all the pages are completed.
Another technique is to create miniature sketches or thumbnails of the pages you intend to create. You can combine the sketches with the power layout technique and place each sketch on the pile of photos and items for each page.
Organized scrapbooks has printable planner sheets you can use to layout a complete album as miniature sketches. This is particularly helpful if you plan a layout but need to shop for a specific paper or embellishment; you can put the planner sheets right in your daily planner with your shopping list.
