September 21 is the United Nation’s Day of Peace. It is a day of non-violence and ceasefire around the world. The Hague which is known as the legal capital of the world and the International City of Peace, Justice and Security, and the UN have organized a series of community activities to raise awareness and promote peace around the world.


The official Day of Peace program starts at 9:30am at the Peace Palace and includes a children’s peace walk and the release of peace balloons, performances, dances and speeches. The Day of Peace was first initiated in 1999 by English filmmaker Jeremy Gilley and unanimously adopted United Nations.
