Even though Los Angeles is far from a stereotypical bike town, it still is pretty consistent with its stereotypes. The colorful lycra cyclists all gather at the Rose Bowl, Fixie riders are all over these days and pretty much everyone ignores the rules and rides on the sidewalks all over town. Bike stereotypes are fairly useful, and they help pass the time in traffic.
Thus enters the comic strip of Kenny Be. You see Kenny doesn't like the hordes of cyclists that invade his city of Denver every summer (awesome town to ride in btw). His latest strip highlights the six stereotypes he believes are the most annoying. From law-breakers to plain angry riders, he has a pretty good caricature of all of them. I think I would probably fall into number 6 but who knows what others think, I tend to wear several hats (er, helmets).
Even though I take the comic strip for what it is, humor, I think it applies to the types of riders in Southern California. I think cyclists in LA break more than a few rules around town, especially about yielding to traffic, staying off the damn sidewalk, and knowing how to stay in the bike lane.
