Find out more about Jennifer: Jennifer lives life on the run. When she's not coaching runners, she's either training for another marathon, running after her 3-year old, or cheering on her husband at a race. She has the tools you need to run your best. This week's HDH has to do with group running. At this time of year, finding the motivation to run is especially hard. This week in DC, we're seeing the coldest days of the winter so far. Between the cold weather, the short days, and never-ending life obligations, getting out for a run is an accomplishment itself.
Running with a group may be what you need. Making a date to meet a group of people will increase your likelihood of actually getting your runs in. When you make an appointment for the doctor or dentist, you keep it, right? Well, think of your running date in the same way: an appointment that will help keep healthy and feeling great.
There are a number of ways to go about finding a running group near you. Check out the list of running stores in the area on the right. Running stores often have groups that meet weekly for fun runs, in addition to actual training programs that train groups for specific race goals. If there isn't a running store group that meets your needs, check out one of the local running clubs. See my list below for some of the local groups.
Whether you run with an organized group or just a couple of friends you've met along the way, running with a group can keep you moving this winter and all the more ready to meet your running goals this spring and summer!
Happy running!
