AT&T announced today that Dallas-based BAF Technologies will convert 600 Ford E-Series vans to compressed natural gas (CNG) in 2009. The vehicles will be part of AT&T’s fleet of alternative-fuel vehicles.

“I applaud AT&T’s leadership in supporting clean air and environment in Texas”, said state Rep. Rafael Anchia. “When companies of AT&T’s stature make a commitment to low-emission fuels in an effort to cut down on the emissions polluting our air, other are sure to follow”.

AT&T announced in March it would start retiring its fleet of gasoline-powered vehicles and invest $565 million as part of a long-term strategy to deploy more than 15,000 alternative-fuel vehicles by 2019. The company will also provide the fueling infrastructure needed, working with natural gas service providers to build up to 40 new CNG fueling stations across its operating region.
