Dallas based ExxonMobil has funded an all-electric car-sharing and rental program in Baltimore. The program called AltCar gives Baltimore residents and tourists the opportunity to rent a five-door, five- passenger Maya-300 at the Maryland Science Center and drive it around the city.
“We believe that advances in technology are the solution to many of the toughest energy challenges”, said Jim Harris, senior vice president, polymers, ExxonMobil Chemical Company.
The ten all-electric cars, that can travel a distance between 60 to 120 miles depending on battery size, are powered by Lithium Ion Superpolymer- batteries made by Electrovaya.
The battery separator film used in Electrovaya’s batteries are produced by Exxon and its Japanese affiliate TonenGeneral.
