It's official - MA unemployment is up to 9.3%. That is a 0.2% increase from August's rate of 9.1%.
The August job loss number of 400 was also revised to 700.
According the MA Office of Workplace Development, jobs are down 9,200 for the month of September.
There is both good news and bad news. The bad news is that some areas that were posting increases in previous months have now reversed those trends, such as Professional, Scientific, and Business Services which had losses of 200 jobs this month. Trade, Transportation, and Utilities also lost 2,200 jobs this month after prior increases.
All is not lost though; Other Services added 1,400 jobs for the month and Information added 500 jobs. This signifies consecutive monthly increases for both sectors.
Let's hope we start to stem the bleeding of jobs and companies up their ranks for the next month.
