Jesus does not detest Gay People, nor do authentic Christians. Pastor Rick Warren, (Saddleback Church, Lake Forest, California) slated to pray for the nation and President-elect Barack Obama, who is enduring a mountain of protest and personal attacks because he stands on scriptural authority and calls sin what it is, would tell you the very same thing.

Jesus truly loves Gays, Lesbians, Heterosexuals and every human being. What God detests is sin. Men fornicating with men, women fornicating with women, a husband or a wife fornicating with someone other than their spouse, premarital sex, lying, cheating, anger, murder, drunkenness, lewdness, cheating on taxes, stealing, keeping the extra change the cashier gave you…no matter how we slice it, it is sin.

When speaking to a nation hell bent on repressing truth that condemns one for speaking it plainly, Pastor Warren will be addressing God on behalf of an America balancing on the precipice of falling from grace in a major way.

Actress Anne Hathaway, interviewed at the Golden Globe awards, said she takes Pastor Warren’s biblical stand personally because her brother is gay. While attending the upcoming inaugural, she had planned on protesting by turning her back to the pastor as he prayed, but thought better not to be rude. This lovely young woman and countless others are simply deceived. Satan’s oldest trick is to feed us a lie, wrapped in the skin of a truth. Just ask Eve. If we refuse to acknowledge God’s truth, we deny our sin and cannot be reconciled to a holy God.

Since every one of us are guilty of sin at some point in our lives…some of us daily…past, present or future, we should never point a finger. Leave judgement to God. The key to lives and eternities being radically changed, is to love people, share the Gospel of Jesus, pray for them and know that it is the job of the Holy Spirit to enter our lives, convict us of our sin and prompt us to make a change.

So when Pastor Warren steps up to pray for America, remember he calls on Jesus, the Lord who created the Heavens and the Earth…the one who gave us our very breath. Pray that his message would speak truth into hardened hearts, open eyes and cause a revival of such great proportions, unbelievers will repent and be saved, in Jesus name. Amen!!

One more note…The New York Times reports that President-elect Barack Obama has also asked V. Gene Robinson, the openly gay Episcopal bishop of New Hampshire to pray at another inaugural event to be held Sunday at the Lincoln Memorial. This has been viewed an attempt to appease the outspoken Gay and Lesbian community that supported the president-elect throughout his campaign.

The Bishop himself is quoted as saying “I am very clear,” he said, “that this will not be a Christian prayer, and I won’t be quoting Scripture or anything like that. The texts that I hold as sacred are not sacred texts for all Americans, and I want all people to feel that this is their prayer.”

My question to the Episcopal Bishop, held to a higher accounting by God, is how can you not pray a Christian prayer? Is your God Jesus or not?
