Truth and Light

8 Then Peter, filled with the Holy Spirit, said to them, "Rulers of the people and elders, 9 if we are being examined today concerning a good deed done to a crippled man, by what means this man has been healed, 10 let it be known to all of you and to all the people of Israel that by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom you crucified, whom God raised from the dead—by him this man is standing before you well. 11 This Jesus is the stone that was rejected by you, the builders, which has become the cornerstone. 12And there is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved." Acts 4:8-12 ESV

Have you ever witnessed a miracle, right before your eyes and wondered “How could this be?” The religious leaders of the time were asking the same question when a man who was crippled from birth was suddenly found walking, leaping and praising God for the miracle of healing.

These religious leaders wanted to know “How could this be?” Peter boldly told them the man was healed by the power of the one and only, Jesus the Christ! Imagine their thoughts at the mention of the name of Jesus whom they had put to death on the cross. They probably weren’t happy to be reminded of the deed, and less excited that these men were performing miracles in His name.

One of the hardest things to do is to humble ourselves, admitting to our sin, big, small, thought, word or deed. For initially it was the sin of the religious leaders that put Christ on that cross, but every day, it is our sin that drove Him there…not because of some religious duty, but for His amazing and great love for us.

That day, the religious leaders had a choice to make…they could believe the miracle that was right before their eyes, repent of their sins and accept Jesus as Savior of their lives, or they could harden their hearts and continue on the path that would lead them to destruction.

In a world that demands we believe all religions lead to heaven, authentic Christianity a very unpopular notion, because to be a follower of Jesus is to be exclusive. God’s word specifically tells us, “there is Salvation in no one else for there is no other name (Jesus) under heaven given among men by which we must be saved.”

Have you felt the Lord tugging on your heart? Have you seen the miracle of His handiwork in your day to day routine, can’t explain it, but your heart demands an answer? There is amazing power in the name of Jesus…by His name alone are we saved from our sin.

The problem is sin. The answer is Jesus. The choice is ours to make…

There is nothing that He cannot forgive and nothing that can keep you from the love of the Savior if you'll surrender and trust in Him...try Jesus and watch as miracles unfold!
