Every knee shall bow, every tongue confess, Jesus Christ is Lord!

One of the great liberties granted in the United States is freedom of speech. Unfortunately, that freedom is being challenged for Christians. There are people lobbying to silence your voice if you happen to publicly pray in or mention the name of Jesus, even threatening lawsuits and jail time.

In September of 2009, Pace High School Principal Frank Lay and Athletic Director Robert Freeman were hauled into a federal courtroom, charged with criminal contempt for blessing a luncheon meal held for donors to their athletic Field House project.

Supporters of Lay and Freeman packed the Pensacola, FL courtroom, cheered them from the steps of the overflowing courthouse and members of Congress made speeches of support on the house floor.  With help from the Liberty Council, the men were cleared of all charges.

This month, the City Councils in Lodi, Tehachapi, Tracy and Turlock California voted to allow pastors to speak the previously forbidden words "in Jesus name" at the end of public prayers. This came as a result of months of local and national pro-Jesus rallying by the “Pray In Jesus Name Project.”

Earlier this year, Pastor Rick Warren was instructed not to pray in Jesus name at the presidential inauguration, however he rose to the occasion and honored our Savior as well as the nation by praying in the only name that saves.

Congressman, Randy Forbes, warned the Lay/Freeman case represents a foretelling of the ACLU's agenda. He said, "Make no mistake, there will come a day when the speaker of this house will be hauled into federal court and threatened with jail because she dares to stand at that podium where you stand tonight and ask the chaplain to start our day with the prayer." In 2000+ years things have not changed all that much.  There's still sin, we still need a Savior and if you follow Jesus, there will be persecution for recognizing Him as Lord. But stand strong in your faith and rally to the cross, for you are not alone. In fact 85 % of American voters polled want to allow public prayers in Jesus name. So pray boldly in the name above all names, Jesus the Christ who is mighty to save and to suffer for Him is counted as an honor.
