It's Christmas eve...the rushing is almost done...we can settle back and enjoy the sights and sounds of a candlelight worship service, share some snacks, then send the kids off to bed for sweet dreams of the morning to come. In the hush of the evening, I believe the true meaning of Christmas shines through...for truly the world has never known a more precious and gracious gift than the very Son of God...Jesus.
God said it best..."In the beginning was the Word and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things were made through Him and without Him, was not anything made that was made. In Him was life and the life was the light of all men. The light shines in the darkness and the darkness has not overcome it. ~ John 1:1-5
The people who dwelt in darkness have seen a great light! ~ Isaiah 9:2 Behold the Lamb of God who takes away the sins of the world.
"For God so loved the world, that He gave His only Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish, but have eternal life!" ~ John 3:16
The good news is that Jesus Christ came to earth, humbly...born to a peasant girl in an obscure village, lived in poverty because He left the glory of Heaven on a mission of love...to save us. He taught about Love, He taught about Mercy, He taught about Truth...He said "I Am" the Christ...the Savior, the one to come! He lived a pure, sinless life and in the end, His friends deserted Him, He was beaten beyond recognition, shown no mercy, and He died the awful death that we sinners deserved. He took every sin that was ever committed, past, present or future...and bore it upon the cross. He willingly gave up His life, so that those who believe in Him...not just know about Him, but truly believe that He is the Savior and follow His word, would have an amazing eternal life with Him in a place far too beautiful for us to even imagine.
The most amazing gift you'll ever receive is one we can't buy, the price is much to dear and was already paid. When Jesus said "It is finished" He meant it! He did the work, He paid the price. He knew we would fall short of the people He created us to be....but He Loves You so very dearly...come to Him. Run with all your might and trust in the one and only God Almighty, Wonderful Counselor, Prince of Peace, Holy One...Jesus the Christ!
There's no secret formula...simply talk to Jesus, He's listening. Tell Him "I don't want to do things my way anymore, I want to do them your way." Tell Him you believe He died on the cross for your sins...then ask forgiveness and believe He alone has the power to forgive and He keeps His promises. Then ask Him, "Come into my heart Lord, fill my life with a hunger for the things of God..." Then Accept His gift and be born anew into the Kingdom of Heaven!!
This is my hope and prayer for all dwelling in this weary world...that you would find salvation in the Living God, Jesus! And that my friends would be the best Christmas gift ever...one that will secure your eternity with Hope, Joy and amazing Love!
