  A View from Northland.

Most every weekend, Pastor Vernon Rainwater welcomes Northland, a Church Distributed worshipers with the greeting, "Thanks for bringing the church into the building!"  Reminding us that the body of Christ, the real church, is her people.

Northland worshippers come from all over the globe to hear a message from Senior Pastor Joel Hunter and sing along with the inspiring worship music .  As they gather, physically at the Longwood Dog Track sanctuary, at local offshoots, or via web-stream worship around the world, the walls we once believed separating the sacred from the profane are obliterated.

In Exodus, when Moses conversed with the great “I AM,” at Horab, the mountain of God, he was required to remove his sandals, because the ground he stood upon was holy.  But it wasn’t the soil, or anything man could create to worship God that made the place holy, it was God’s awesome and amazing presence there that sanctified that place.

When we gather in His name, no matter where that is, since God is omnipresent, meaning He is everywhere at all times, in all places, all ground is holy.  God owns it all and lends it to us to tend…he sets events and people in front of us, offering an opportunity to be His hands and feet.  It’s up to us to take up the banner and serve as Jesus served.

As Pastor Rainwater reminds us, we are here to worship God for who He is and what He has done.  Besides the obvious prayer, singing and studying His word, that worship takes on many forms.  When we see a need, we can lend a hand, give of our time, money and talents (without being asked) and continually thank the Savior for all He has provided…no matter what our circumstances.  We are called, so let us take our worship beyond the physical building and manifest it everyday of our lives.  We are God’s church!  Be bold in your Kingdom work!
