Manatees garner lots of attention in Florida, and for good reasons. Manatees are constantly at risk of being injured or killed because of careless boaters and humans who can't resist their appeal.
We have lots of other flippered friends who deserve equal respect, though. You can meet many of them at Sea World Orlando. From tiny jellyfish to the colossal walrus, visitors can get a close look at saltwater and freshwater creatures originating from many parts of the world.
This is not a park you visit solely for the rides; an efficient park guest will immediately grab a map and a schedule and structure his or her day around the shows. Both of Shamu's shows (Believe and Shamu Rocks) are extremely popular and it is wise to arrrive 30 minutes early for a seat. It's a bit easier to find space at the other programs, provided you're not with a large group.
For guests seeking a more up-close-and-personal experience with a marine mammal, the dolphin habitat is like a wish come true. More than a dozen bottlenose dolphins jump, splash, and even play fetch with the crowd! An underwater viewing area is also available, which is a great place for little kids to get face to face with these seemingly smiling creatures. For a small fee, visitors can participate in the dolphin feedings held several times a day.
And not to worry. Sea World has plenty of manatees, too.
Did you know: You can even swim with the dolphins at Sea World's sister park Discovery Cove, located right across the street from Sea World in Orlando.
