Everyone has their own bailiwick, and you can pretty much bet they're darn proud of it. Virtually all outdoor enthusiasts aren't shy to boast or wax poetic about their favorite open-air haunts.

There are untold thousands of folks who live in and around the Conejo Valley, just west of Los Angeles County, who enjoy the Conejo Recreation and Park District. On Saturday, Oct. 18, a lot of these woodsy stalwarts join in to give something back in what is known as the annual Conejo Open Space Conservation Agency (COSCA) Trail Work Day.

(Cone-AY-ho is a Spanish word meaning "rabbit.").

Their particular boast goes; HELP US MAINTAIN THE BEST OPEN SPACE TRAIL SYSTEM IN THE COUNTRY!, and everyone is invited to help the cause.

There's no getting around the fact that COSCA has a network of magificent, scenic trails. So it's no surprise that busloads of volunteers come around every October. And why not. It's always a fun day, even if often on the toasty side, weatherwise, and you will certainly work up a sweat.

It all starts with a sack breakfast. It ends up--well, here are the facts as listed in the COSCA brochure:
