Frantic Clam, an Austin-based post-punk foursome, is presenting DJs and producers with an opportunity to be included in their upcoming album by remixing their single "Korean Beauty Queen" . The group is allowing anyone and everyone to download high-quality music files that contain the various elements of the song and remix them. A Remix web page has been set up on the band's official site, which lists more detail. The band will accept submissions until August 15th, at which time they will pick one or more remixes to appear on the album, due October 2009. The winner(s) will appear on the band's website and will receive proper credits and promotion.
Frantic Clam was recently reviewed in Performing Songwriter magazine and their recent EP, Anatomica, has received praise from local press. Austin Sound said that "Anatomica is a collection of the catchiest and most refreshing songs I have heard in a long time." The band believes that "indie music" is inclusive of all independent artists, regardless of genre.
The move marks an attempt to punctuate that belief and bring together other independent musicians. The band specifically states that potential remixers are only bound by their own creativity.
