Austin Surf Sesh attendees that just went to see Godsmack (or people that didn't go at all) missed some great sets by local indie groups. Here's a quick glance at a couple of them.

Betaplayer

Betaplayer is a socially and politically conscious hip-hop group from Austin. The beats were solid and the lyrics were from an earlier time of classic hip-hop. MC's Ibrahim and Pax played well off each other and created a dynamic back and forth rhythm.

The Beat Dolls

The Beat Dolls had a distinct No Doubt vibe. It felt refreshing even though it was about one hundred degrees outside and it has been done before…by No Doubt. Regardless, The Beat Dolls are a solid punk rock group with catchy, upbeat songs.
