Celebrate Dr. King's birthday and legacy with dance, music and poetry! On Jan. 19, check out Peoples Congregational United Church of Christ's annual Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Program: A Celebration of a Dream Realized.
The program, designed especially for children and youth, will feature acts from around the world who embody Dr. King's vision of equality and inclusion. Acts will include: Barynya, a professional Russian Dance Company; Farafina Kan, an African drumming company; the Kardelen Turkish Dance Ensemble, the Howard University Gospel Choir and much, much more! The high energy program will provide children and teens with the chance to see diverse acts, learn about different cultures, all while honoring Dr. King's legacy. A birthday party for Dr. King and red carpet pre-inaugural affair with food, DJ, dancing and fun will immediately follow the program!
A Celebration of a Dream Realized begins at 12 p.m. and is free and open to the public. If you're trying to stay away from downtown and the hustle and bustle of this weekend, but still want to celebrate King day, head over to Peoples Church for their celebration. You'll be glad you did.
