It was sometime during the month of October when Chad Johnson, wide receiver for the Cincinnati Bengals, announced that in honor of Hispanic Heritage month everyone could call him Ocho Cinco. And then he officially changed his name. You don’t have to go that far to celebrate. Just go to the Atlas Performing Arts Center this Saturday for the Hispanic Dance Festival.

Co-sponsored by Dance Place and the Washington Performing Arts Society, the Hispanic Dance Festival will feature performances by DC Casineros, a phenomenal Cuban Salsa dance company that I have seen perform live; Maru Montero Dance Company; Sharna Fabiano Tango Company; Spanish Dance Society; Ziva’s Spanish Dance Ensemble  and other special guests.

Dance performances will range from flamenco dance, Cuban Salsa (Rueda de Casino), seductive tango, Mexican folk and other dances from Latin America.

The show is Saturday, Oct. 25, with showtimes at three and eight p.m.  The 3 p.m. performance is part of the Target Family Series, where it's free for one child 12 and under with each paying adult!  Ticket prices range from ten to twenty five dollars. Celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month without changing your name or taking other drastic measures!

Now go have unlimited fun with limited funds!
