Brian Keene, author of The RisingConqueror Worms and the recently-released Urban Gothic, announced plans over the weekend to write an ongoing independent comic series called The Last Zombie.

Keene has hinted at the announcement via his website and a dedicated Twitter account for some time now. He made the news official with a post on his website, describing the project as "Damnation Alley meets The Stand and Mad Max in the aftermath of The Walking Dead." Keene said he considered writing the story as a prose novel, but felt it would be too long to receive serious consideration for publication.

Instead, the idea, details of which Keene is keeping under wraps for now, will take place in a 25-30 issue comic series released by Antarctic Press. Keene is not releasing publication dates or naming an artist at this time.
