When I picked up this morning's Washington Post and flipped over the paper my heart sank: SANDWICHING OLDER METRO CARS WAS PR MOVE.
The gist: Metro said placing newer, sturdier cars on the ends with older, less studier cars was a safety measure. But Metro didn't conduct any tests according to Metro's safety chief, Alexa Dupigny-Samuels, who wrote in July that the shift in car order was to allay the public's fears. (There's more of course, go have a read.)
Fake safety measures, and revelations regarding the fake safety measures are just what the public wants to hear.
Metro isn't happy either. They've released a PDF correcting the post "line by line." Metro says its older cars are perfectly safe.
But the "damage" is done. DC is displeased with Metro, its board, and manager John Catoe without the information that Metro has taken us for stupid and lied about its safety measure. After reading the WaPo article it's hard to follow Metro's correction and take it to heart.
