Your weekend track maintenance is on the Orange line this weekend. Metro advises adding 20 minutes to your expected commute time. If you don't mind my interjection, round up to an hour—the Orange line will be the main hub for book enthusiasts (see below). Metro's press release:
Metrorail customers traveling between the Cheverly and Stadium-Armory Metrorail stations should add at least 30 minutes to their travel time because Metro will replace crossties and conduct maintenance on the aerial structure outside the Stadium-Armory Metrorail station. Trains will share one track between these locations from 9:30 p.m., Friday, Sept. 25, to closing (midnight) on Sunday, Sept. 27.
The National Book Festival is this weekend, so commuters be warned! Your trains are full of book lovers. Libraries will be roo-rahing their work for the community and a ton of authors will be giving talks and signing books, so prepare yourself accordingly.
The Festival will be on the Mall, between 7th and 14th Streets, 10 a.m.–5:30 p.m. You'll want the Smithsonian stop on the Blue and Orange lines. You'll see the mall from the exit, and you'll probably be fine if you follow the crowd.
