Are you ready for Car Free Day? The no-car commute is planned for Tuesday, September 22, 2009 and calls for alternative methods of transportation: walking, biking, or public transportation. (Jet packs are probably harmful for the environment given their need for fuel and propensity to pollute the air.)

Next week will mark DC's third year participating in the global holiday. 5,445 DCers pledged to participate (pledge here) by going car free or "car lite" and carpooling.

What say you, reader, have you mapped your commute through public transportation? Checked the chinstrap on your helmet? Or will you be abstaining? (If so, I hope it's a good reason.)
