Weekend maintenance for Blue, Orange and Yellow lines on Metrorail

This weekend's track work will be reserved for Blue, Orange, and Yellow lines. Riders should expect an additional 20-30 minutes for their commutes.

Track maintenance on the Orange, Blue and Yellow lines this weekend (June 19-21) will cause inbound and outbound trains to take turns sharing one track, and customers should add an additional 30 minutes of travel time to their trips.

Orange Line Track Maintenance

Metrorail customers traveling between the East Falls Church and West Falls Church-VT/UVA Metrorail stations should add at least 20 minutes of travel time because Metro will replace crossties, the track support structures. Trains will share one track between these locations from 10 p.m., Friday, June 19, to closing (midnight) on Sunday, June 21.

Blue and Yellow Line Track Maintenance

Metrorail customers traveling between the Braddock Road and Van Dorn Street (Blue Line) and Huntington (Yellow Line) Metrorail stations should add at least 30 minutes of travel time for their trips because Metro will be tamping the rail tracks to ensure durability. Trains will share one track between these locations from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m., Saturday, June 20 and Sunday, June 21.

All Yellow Line trains will operate every 12 to 14 minutes during the day between the Huntington and Greenbelt Metrorail stations.

Blue Line trains will operate every 12 to 15 minutes in two sections throughout the day. The Blue Line will operate between the Franconia-Springfield and King Street stations and between the Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport and Largo Town Center Metrorail stations. Blue line trains will not service the Braddock Road Metrorail station.

Metrorail customers who park at Franconia-Springfield and Van Dorn Street Metrorail stations and wish to avoid the delays should consider parking at the Huntington Metrorail station.
